Sequence Stratigraphic Training Courses:

 

• Principles of Sequence Stratigraphy (2 days):

  • The course covers the basic concepts and principles of Sequence Stratigraphy including: Relative Sea-level, Accommodation Space, Sequence Stratigraphic Surfaces, Systems Tracts, Sequences and Megasequences.  

  • Different Sequence Stratigraphic models will be discussed and core, well log and seismic sections interpreted to demonstrate Sequence Stratigraphic methodology. 

  • The course is exercise based interspersed with guiding lectures.

• Practical Application of Sequence Stratigraphy (3 days)

  • This course focuses on applying the concepts and principles of Sequence Stratigraphy to the practical interpretation of core, well log and seismic sections.

  • The aim of this exercise based course is to give attendees the confidence to interpret well and seismic data with the purpose of understanding how basins evolve and fill.

  • How to create depositional models and predict the distribution of source, reservoir and sealing rocks.

  • Better understand petroleum system elements and their relative timing.

• Examine and interpret outcrop from a sequence stratigraphic perspective (1 day in the field)
